This year marks the 45th anniversary of the publication of The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. She clips a basket, packed full to the brim, onto a wire that runs from their family cottage to the lighthouse on the rocks – where Mr Grinling hungrily awaits. But, when the seagulls discover the delicious goodies in the basket and come back for their fill day after day, Mrs Grinling must figure out a way to put a stop to their thievery. One of her suggestions even involves sending their cat, Hamish, in a separate basket to scare off the greedy birds!
